Every day we keep experiencing incredible acts of love that show us that the four-letter word does not care about where you are from, what you do, or your political affiliation because it will find you.
We all know that when the most romantic cities in the world are mentioned, cities like Paris, Venice, and Rome dominate the list. However, there are other cities that are even more romantic, but don’t get as much press. That’s why I have compiled a list of the five most underrated romantic cities in the world that you should put on your bucket list.
Lagos, Nigeria: Romantic Chaos
A few years ago, CNN ranked Nigerians #1 on its list of “Happiest People in the World,” and no Nigerian city embodies that jubilant enthusiasm better than Lagos, the country’s former capital.
Let’s be clear, Lagos is not romantic in the serene, relaxed way of a tropical island – although it boasts three different beaches for those who love swimming – its romance comes from the sheer volume of fun activities available to enjoy with your significant other. Begin your day with a hearty breakfast at one of the city’s top-class restaurants, then spend your afternoon shopping at the elegant Palms Shopping Mall, exploring local culture at the Lagos museum, or horseback riding at Lekki Beach. Spend the evening dancing the night away at one of the many clubs and lounges or take in a comedy show. The options are endless and there is not a boring moment to be had.
Kyoto, Japan: Where Fashion Meets Love
Now let’s take you on a trip to one of the most romantic place in Asia: Kyoto, Japan. Kyoto is a lovable and vibrant city that will take you deep into the culture and traditions of the Japanese.
The city, which is referred to as the City of Lovers, both by locals and travel experts, is characterized by its beautiful gardens, which are open to the public. Couples can be seen having picnics at all times. This includes the Kyoto Botanical Gardens that is made up of cherry blossom trees, flowers, and loads of lovely open spaces.
Buenos Aires: The City Of Tango
Buenos Aires is a beautiful city and the birthplace of the tango!
Buenos Aires is a vibrant and colourful city that never sleeps, like, literally never sleeps as there are so many spots to hang out at all night. The street bubbles every day and the people of Buenos Aires are always ready to give a helping hand to a non-Spanish speaking tourist.
The city boasts beautiful architecture that will make your heart tingle a bit and the beach is also a great place to hang out and connect with people.
Marrakech, Morocco: Love In The Desert
Marrakech in Morocco might not immediately pop in your head when you are thinking of romance, but it should be because this city has got love written all over it.
Marrakech is a city of adventure and nothing turns the heart more than a little bit of thrill, and this is why Marrakech is on the list. From exploring the ever busy markets, to checking out the snake charmers downtown, to taking refuge in the city’s charming boutique hotels (they are called riads), Marrakech has got something for everyone. It will make your relationship stronger if you are looking to bring excitement into the relationship again.
Bruges, Belgium: Where Love Never Dies
The streets of Bruges are like scenes from a romantic movie set and it will definitely bring out the Juliet or Romeo in you.
It is literally impossible not to think of love when you are in Bruges as the city is lined up with lovely looking cobblestones with picturesque looking buildings, chocolate shops, and loads of eateries that offer special exquisite menus.
